Canada

In partnership with Nalcor and with the support of the CNLOPB, we deployed a Rockwash system to the core repository in St. John’s, Newfoundland with an expert team. Whilst on the ground, we washed and digitalised all of the cuttings samples from 115 wells, creating the first truly regional dataset of its kind.

In 2018, we added further stratigraphic context by partnering with Rocktype to carry out a dedicated lithology and provenance study for a selection of wells. This study involved the collection and interpretation of XRF, XRD and QEMSCAN data, offering new insights into the source of sediment in the Orphan and Flemish Pass Basins.

Our most notable Canadian projects are listed below:

Multiclient Databases

East Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador – 2017-2018: PhotoSTRAT, core and thin section scan database developed in collaboration with NALCOR & CNLOPB (115 wells)

East Canada, Orphan and Flemish Pass Basins – 2018 – 2019: Lithology and provenance study integrating XRF, XRD and QEMSCAN data developed in partnership with Rocktype (23 wells)
